In the wine light is a research communication competition held in conjunction with the Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference.

It provides a unique opportunity to profile and celebrate the innovative research conducted by postgraduate students from around the world, and provides them with an opportunity to enhance their communication skills.

Research higher degree (PhD) students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance. This challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience.

To add to the challenge, each presentation is appraised by an esteemed judging panel and also by the audience which includes many of the international speakers from the AWITC.

Prizes The winners of In the wine light are awarded :

• First Prize: $500
• People’s Choice Prize: $500
