About Me
Nigel Sneyd MW is an international winemaker and senior executive who has made wine in Australia, California, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and South Africa. He completed his first Oenology degree at Charles Sturt University in Australia and his second from the University of Dijon in France where he was Dux of his year. He holds a MBA from the University of Adelaide and Monash University and is a Master of Wine (MW). He works as Director of Global Wine, Quality and Compliance for Accolade Wines, based in Adelaide, Australia. He was elected to the Board of the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) in January 2021 for a three-year term. Previously he was a Director of Winemaking for E & J Gallo Winery in California, having also been based in Europe for the same company. Prior to joining Gallo, Nigel was the Director of BRL Hardy’s Domaine de la Baume in France, the Director of a negociant business specializing in high-end French appellation wines and was one of the original ‘Flying Winemakers’ for Direct Wines in the UK. His Australian experience includes winemaking for Evans and Tate in Western Australia, Hickinbotham Winemakers and Brown Brothers in Victoria, as well as being the Manager of the world-renowned Australian Wine Research Institute’s (AWRI) Extension and Advisory Service. His impressive resume includes undergraduate work at Burgundy’s renowned Domaine Dujac, luxury brand Champagne Krug and the French Institute of Wine Research (INRA). He is fluent in French, proficient in Spanish and Italian and has mentored numerous young winemakers around the world. He has been a Senior Judge at the International Wine Challenge (UK) and volunteers as a tutor in the Master of Wine (MW) program.
