ASVO Youth Advisory Subcommittee Nomination
We’re looking for young people who are passionate, engaged, and ready to contribute. As a subcommittee member, you’ll be a team player who communicates clearly, brings fresh ideas, supports diversity, acts responsibly, and is open to learning and developing new skills.
This is a unique opportunity to actively shape the future of the Rootlings network and ASVO. It’s a way to get involved, contribute ideas, and gain experience without the fiduciary and legal responsibilities of being on the Board.

Committee members serve a one year term.

Who Should Nominate
The Youth Advisory Subcommittee positions are open to all candidates in the wine sector, both ASVO members and non-members, regardless of race, gender, or background.
Candidates will be considered based on their skills, experience, and expertise.

Youth Advisory Subcommittee member responsibilities and expectations
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Support from employer/colleagues for the time and financial commitment required to attend board and sub-committee meetings.
  • Willingness to wear an “industry hat” (to contribute beyond personal business interests for the good of the membership and the industry).
  • Creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify and develop new products and services benefiting the Rootlings network / ASVO.
  • Ability to act with integrity and make decisions, financial and otherwise, for the good of the Rootlings network / ASVO.

Time Commitment

  • Bi-monthly Subcommittee meeting, typically 1.5 hours + reading time (most meetings are via teleconference call)
  • 1 face-to-face meetings each year (typically a 1 day commitment)

What to Expect as a Subcommittee Member
Being on a subcommittee is more than just attending meetings. Members actively contribute ideas, collaborate with others, help plan projects and events, and play a hands-on role in making things happen. It’s a chance to learn, gain experience, and make a real impact within the network.

How to Nominate
Applications for vacant positions are to be submitted to the ASVO Executive Officer by Friday 19 December 2025. Applicants must include:

  • A brief cover letter (no more than 1 page) outlining your interest in the role and suitability and responses to the selection criteria.
  • A CV or résumé highlighting relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.

Criteria for Youth Advisory Subcommittee members 

  • Governance Capability
    Tell us about any experience you’ve had serving on committees, or your understanding of how organisations are governed, how risks are managed, and what practical considerations are involved in decision-making. We’re interested in both your hands-on experience and your insights into how effective governance works in practice.
  • Skills and Industry Expertise
    Share your talents, the skills you bring, such as organisation, communication, problem-solving, event planning—like organising, problem-solving, event planning, communication, or knowledge in areas such as viticulture, winemaking, research, or business.
    Contribution to The Rootlings network’s goals
  • Explain how your background, interests, or experiences will help you contribute to the network’s mission of connecting young people, building skills, and supporting the community.
    Member and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Provide examples of your experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, such as industry professionals, researchers, volunteers, partner organisations, or member-based bodies.
    Alignment with ASVO Values
  • Explain how your professional conduct, ethics, and approach to leadership align with the ASVO’s values of Integrity, Knowledge, Innovation and Communication.
    Capacity and Commitment
  • Let us know your availability to participate in meetings, events, and subcommittee activities, and your willingness to contribute your time and energy.
