Vineyard Soil Health Seminar - a huge success!

Approximately 260 delegates attended the Vineyard Soil Health seminar. The first ever lunchtime wine tasting was very popular with opportunities to taste over 30 wines. All speakers were appreciated and generated debates at lunch and dinner. Presentations available for download (ASVO web site) on 17th August.

A further 165 guests attended the Networking Dinner and enjoyed the extensive organic and biodynamic wine tasting. Our MC for the night, Max Allen provided tasting information and to our surprise and delight -entertainment as well. Yes! - he really can sing!

A feed back survey elicited responses from 37% of delegates. ASVO received bouquets for organisation of the event, seminar content, speakers and the networking activities; and a few brick-bats for the seminar location - it was a bit squashy here and there due to the large number of delegates. We were very pleased however at the level of interest in the topic.

The feedback survey asked for topics for the next viticulture seminar. Suggestions included: new and alternative varieties - particularly as related to climate change ; sustainable viticulture with reduced inputs to manage water shortages, climate change, environmental degradation, and international competition; business information such as viticultural economics (how to stay afloat!), value chains, market analysis, and determining carbon footprints.
